Welcome to Vois. These terms govern your use of our desktop application and website. By using Vois, you agree to these terms.

Plain English Summary

You own your content. Scripts you write and audio you generate are yours.
Commercial use on plans that include it. All current subscriptions include commercial use. Some partner lifetime tiers are licensed for personal use only; your tier's inclusions are shown at purchase.
Subscription model. Vois is a subscription service. See our pricing page for current plans. Cancel anytime.
Device allowance per plan. Your license works on the number of devices included with your plan, as shown at purchase.
Don't share your subscription. One person per subscription. Teams need separate subscriptions.
No harmful content. Don't use Vois for illegal, deceptive, or harmful purposes.

License Grant

What You Get

When you subscribe to Vois, or purchase a Vois license through an authorized partner, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

Install and use Vois on up to the number of devices included with your plan (shown at purchase), on devices you personally own or control
Generate unlimited voice audio for personal use and, where your plan or license tier includes a commercial license, for commercial use
Access the built-in voices and, where included in your plan or license tier, the voice cloning features shown at purchase

Subscription licenses provide access and updates for as long as your subscription is active. Current plans and pricing are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. You can cancel at any time.

What You Cannot Do

Share your subscription account with others or use it on devices you don't own
Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the software
Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the application
Remove or alter copyright notices or license information
Use the software simultaneously on more devices than your plan's device allowance

Lifetime & Partner Licenses

Vois licenses are also sold through authorized partners, sometimes as one-time lifetime purchases. For these licenses:

Lifetime access covers the Vois Studio 2.x product line and its updates, including bug fixes, new voices, and features added to that line
Device allowance, voice cloning slots, and whether a commercial license is included depend on the tier you purchased, as shown on the partner's offer page at purchase
Features sold separately (such as Omni and Voice Design) are not included unless your offer says otherwise
Refunds for partner purchases are handled by the partner under the refund policy shown at purchase, not by the subscription refund policy below

Historical AppSumo Pro Add-on Purchases

The former one-time Pro add-on is no longer offered. Customers who already completed an eligible purchase keep that access under the terms accepted at purchase. It was a separate Vois purchase, not part of the original AppSumo deal and not required to keep or use any feature included in the customer's AppSumo tier.

The add-on unlocks Omni and Voice Design in Vois Studio 2.x only
It does not change the AppSumo tier, device allowance, saved or cloned voice allowance, commercial-use rights, included engines, or AppSumo update entitlements
It was a one-time payment, not a subscription; new purchases are no longer available
Completed purchases required explicit acceptance of these Terms and the add-on's hardware requirements

Final sale; no change-of-mind refunds. Because access to the digital add-on is granted immediately, Vois does not offer refunds when a buyer changes their mind. Nothing in this paragraph excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, remedy, or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

Team & Business Use

Each person using Vois needs their own subscription. If you're a business or agency with multiple team members using Vois, you need one subscription per user. Contact us for volume pricing.

Content Ownership

Your Content

You retain all rights to content you create with Vois. This includes:

Scripts and text you write
Audio files generated from your text
Voice clones created from samples you own or have rights to
Projects, timelines, and other creative work

We claim no ownership or license over your content. What you create is yours.

Generated Audio Rights

Audio generated using Vois's built-in voices is yours, with no attribution required and no royalties. On plans and license tiers that include a commercial license, you can use it for any purpose, including:

Publish podcasts and audiobooks
Create YouTube videos and courses
Use in advertisements and marketing
Include in software products
Sell products containing generated audio

On personal-use tiers, generated audio is for projects that are not sold, monetized, or produced for a client; upgrade your tier to add the commercial license.

Voice Cloning Rights & Responsibilities

Vois includes voice cloning technology that allows you to create custom voices from audio samples. This powerful feature requires responsible use:

Consent required. You must have explicit permission from the voice owner before cloning their voice. This includes verbal consent, written agreement, or being the voice owner yourself.
Commercial talent. If you commission voice recordings from professional talent, your agreement must specifically include permission for AI voice synthesis. Standard voice-over contracts typically do not include these rights.
No impersonation. Never use cloned voices to create content that falsely appears to be from another person without clear disclosure.
You are liable. You bear full legal responsibility for your use of voice cloning, including compliance with right of publicity laws, privacy regulations, and any emerging AI voice regulations.

Audio generated using cloned voices is yours to use for any purpose permitted by both your consent agreement with the voice owner and your plan or license tier (commercial use requires a tier that includes the commercial license). See our Voice Cloning Terms for detailed requirements, prohibited uses, and enforcement policies.

Acceptable Use

You Agree Not To

Impersonate others – Create audio falsely claiming to be from a real person without their consent
Spread misinformation – Generate fake news, fraudulent content, or deceptive audio
Harass or threaten – Create content intended to harass, bully, or threaten others
Violate laws – Use Vois for any illegal purpose under applicable law
Infringe rights – Generate content that violates copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property
Abuse the service – Attempt to circumvent license restrictions or disrupt our systems

AI Ethics

AI-generated voices are powerful tools that come with responsibility. We trust you to use Vois ethically. If we discover serious violations of these terms, we reserve the right to revoke your license.

Payments & Refunds

Pricing

Vois is available as a subscription service. Current plans and pricing are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. You can cancel your subscription at any time.

Licenses purchased through authorized partners follow the partner's pricing and refund policy, shown at purchase.

Refund Policy

Except where required by applicable law, subscription payments are non-refundable. We do not provide voluntary change-of-mind refunds or prorated refunds for unused subscription time.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantees, statutory withdrawal rights, remedies or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

For purchases processed by Polar, this policy does not limit any refund rights under the applicable Polar Buyer Terms.

Partner and marketplace purchases are refunded by the partner under the policy shown at purchase.

Except where required by applicable law, export credit purchases are non-refundable. Credits never expire and remain available on your account regardless of subscription status.

Voice Store Purchases

Optional voices and voice packs in the Vois Store are one-time purchases in US dollars. Listen to the in-app auditions and review the voices and languages listed before you buy. Existing purchases are not credited against a pack price.

Your purchase gives your account access to the listed voices for use inside Vois. It does not include downloadable source recordings, additional model access, voice-cloning slots or export credits. Your plan's generation, export and commercial-use rules still apply. You may export the speech you generate under those rules.

Voice Store purchases stay with your account if you cancel your subscription. They become available again when you return with eligible Vois access using the same verified account. Updates we provide to purchased content are included. These purchases do not reduce rights already included in your plan or partner offer.

Final sale; no change-of-mind refunds. Except where required by applicable law, Vois does not offer refunds for Voice Store purchases. The consumer protections and Polar Buyer Terms described above continue to apply.

Cancellation

You can cancel future subscription renewals through the Polar billing portal, opened from Settings → License → Manage Billing in the Vois app, or by contacting support@vois.so. Ordinary cancellation takes effect at the end of your paid billing period. Your subscription access continues until then, and you will not be charged for subsequent renewals.

Cancellation does not itself entitle you to a refund. This does not affect any right to withdraw, end the subscription earlier or receive a refund where required by applicable law. Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.

Updates & Support

Software Updates

Subscription licenses include all updates and new features for as long as your subscription remains active. This includes bug fixes, new voices, and enhanced features added over time. After an app update, Vois may automatically download the current version of a voice-engine package you had previously installed; packages you had not installed remain on demand.

Support

We provide email support for technical issues and questions. We aim to respond within 48 hours on business days. Support is available at support@vois.so.

Service Availability

Voice generation and audio processing run locally. Setup, voice-engine package downloads, software updates, activation, and periodic license validation require internet access. Connected publishing or sharing features use the network when you choose them, and optional diagnostics use it only when enabled. Downloaded voice-engine packages come from cdn.vois.so and are checked against the release's verified manifest before use. Local production can continue during the applicable offline grace period while the license remains active. We strive to keep our online services available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Third-Party Services

Connected Publishing and Storage Services

When you choose a connected publishing or sharing feature, you are responsible for complying with the destination provider's terms and for any costs charged by that provider. We are not responsible for the provider's availability or behavior.

Vois can create an encrypted backup file but does not upload it. If you save the file in a folder synchronized by Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, or another storage provider, that provider's software handles the transfer under its terms. You are responsible for protecting the backup passphrase and for the storage location you choose.

Open-Source Components & AI Model Licenses

Vois incorporates open-source software and AI models. By using Vois, you acknowledge and agree to the terms of the underlying licenses for these components. Key components include:

Text-to-speech models licensed under the MIT License and Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0) license. Model weights provided under CC-BY-4.0 require attribution to the original creators, which Vois fulfills through this notice and the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES file bundled with the application.
Omni voice model is built on Boson AI's Higgs Audio 2 and Meta Llama 3. As those licenses require, we display their notice here: “Built with Higgs Materials licensed from Boson AI USA, Inc., Copyright Boson AI USA, Inc., All Rights Reserved and Meta Llama 3 licensed under the Meta Llama 3 Community License, Copyright Meta Platforms, Inc., All Right Reserved”. Copies of the Boson Community License and the Meta Llama 3 Community License ship in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES file bundled with the application.
Built-in voice recordings derived from openly licensed datasets including the VCTK Corpus (CC-BY-4.0, University of Edinburgh), voice performances by independent voice actors (CC-BY-4.0), and volunteer voice donations (CC0/Public Domain).

AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Audio generated by Vois is produced by artificial intelligence models. While we strive for high-quality, natural-sounding output, AI-generated audio may contain imperfections, mispronunciations, or artifacts. You are responsible for reviewing all generated content before use. Vois does not guarantee that generated audio will be free of errors or suitable for any specific purpose without review.

Audio Provenance

Exported audio files contain metadata identifying them as AI-generated by Vois. This metadata includes a unique export identifier, the app version, and the voice type (preset or cloned). This information helps verify content provenance and supports compliance with applicable synthetic media regulations. It does not contain your personal information, the input text, or the audio content itself.

You are responsible for disclosing the use of AI-generated audio where required by applicable law, platform policies, or industry standards.

Voice Cloning Audit Trail

When you clone a voice, you confirm that you have the voice owner's explicit permission. Vois maintains a local audit log of generations made with cloned voices, including timestamps and anonymized device identifiers. This log is stored on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except for minimal export receipts (containing no audio or text content) when cloned voice audio is exported.

Prohibited Uses

You must not use Vois to: impersonate another person without their explicit authorization; create political deepfakes or robocalls; generate non-consensual intimate content; commit fraud, deceive, or mislead; or violate any applicable law or regulation. Violation of these terms may result in license revocation without refund, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

Inquiry Process

If you believe your voice has been cloned without authorization using Vois, contact support@vois.so with details. We will investigate within 10 business days and may revoke the responsible user's license if a violation is confirmed. For law enforcement inquiries with valid legal process, we respond within 5 business days.

Warranty & Liability

As-Is Software

Vois is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. While we work hard to make reliable software, we cannot guarantee it will be error-free or meet all your specific requirements.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Vois. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for backing up your projects and data. We are not liable for lost work due to software issues, hardware failure, or any other cause.

Termination

We may terminate your subscription if you:

Violate these terms of service
Use Vois for illegal or seriously harmful purposes
Share your subscription account or circumvent license restrictions

If we terminate your subscription for cause, we do not provide a refund for remaining subscription time except where required by applicable law. You may cancel future renewals as described in the Cancellation section above. These provisions do not limit any termination, withdrawal or refund rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the application. Continued use of Vois after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of New South Wales, Australia. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
