TLDR:Windows SmartScreen shows a blue warning screen for software from new publishers. Click 'More info' then 'Run anyway' to install. If the installer won't run at all, right-click the .exe, go to Properties, and check 'Unblock' at the bottom. Vois is safe—it just isn't signed with an expensive code signing certificate yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Windows say 'Windows protected your PC' when I try to install Vois?

Windows SmartScreen flags software from publishers it hasn't seen before. Since Vois is new and doesn't have a code signing certificate yet (they cost hundreds of dollars per year), Windows shows this warning. It doesn't mean the software is dangerous—it means it's new. Click 'More info' then 'Run anyway' to proceed.

Is Vois safe to install on Windows?

Yes. Vois runs 100% locally on your machine. It doesn't upload your scripts or audio anywhere. The SmartScreen warning appears because we're a new publisher, not because there's anything wrong with the software.

The installer won't run at all—nothing happens when I double-click it. What do I do?

Windows may have silently blocked the file. Right-click the installer .exe, select Properties, and look for an 'Unblock' checkbox at the bottom of the General tab. Check it, click Apply, then try running the installer again.

Do I need to install anything else like WebView2?

Usually no. Windows 10 and 11 typically have WebView2 pre-installed via Windows Update, and the Vois installer will attempt to install it automatically if it's missing. In rare cases, WebView2 may be installed under a different user profile and Vois can't detect it. If that happens, download the Evergreen Standalone Installer (x64) from Microsoft's WebView2 page and run it as Administrator to install it system-wide.

I get a WebView2 error saying it's already installed on another account. What do I do?

This means WebView2 is installed per-user under a different Windows profile instead of system-wide. Download the 'Evergreen Standalone Installer' (x64) from developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2, right-click it, select 'Run as administrator', and it will install WebView2 system-wide so Vois can find it.

Will I see these warnings every time I open Vois?

No. The SmartScreen warning only appears once during installation. After that, Vois launches normally from your Start Menu or desktop shortcut without any warnings.

What are the system requirements for Windows?

Windows 10 (version 1803 or later) or Windows 11. 16 GB RAM recommended for smooth AI voice generation. 10 GB free disk space. A modern multi-core CPU (Intel i5/AMD Ryzen 5 or better).
